The 40-Day Revolution

Go on retreat within the city limits and raise the vibrancy of your life!

The 40-Day Revolution is an intensive program that has the potential to redraw the map of your world. Over six weeks, you will rise to the challenges of a committed yoga and meditation practice, good nutrition and personal exploration that together will form a powerful catalyst for positive and lasting change.

The Revolution Weekly Program

5 Studio Classes
1 Home Practice
Twice Daily meditations
Nourishing & Cleansing Diet (optional fast week 4)
Personal Exploration
1 day of complete rest

The Process

Strengthen, cleanse and nourish your body with regular yoga practices and energizing foods. Revitalizing your physical body will naturally lead to a new awakening of your mind. Meditation will calm and focus this new energy, empowering you to clear negative patterns and to pave the way for you to create and achieve your life’s dreams.

This program is about Living Yoga, in the city, and in the modern world. Make a commitment to yourself and evolve!

Workshop Support

The 40-Day Revolution is supported by different workshops which are designed to make this a transformational process. These cover the three main pillars of the revolution and include Basic & Advanced Asana, Meditation and Nutrition. All workshops are included in the price of the revolution.

Further Information

At BodyMindLife we truly believe that committing to an intensive period of yoga and meditation practice once or twice a year gives you the greatest opportunity to experience yoga’s ultimate gifts. The 40-Day Revolution, as inspired by Baron Baptiste, and combined with our supporting workshops, is a potent transformational program for all levels of students.

We invite you to join us for this life-changing journey!

“Many of us are searching without knowing exactly what we are looking for. Some of us go on a diet to lose weight and try all kinds of programs and workshops to make ourselves feel better, or perhaps we throw ourselves into our work and seek wealth and status to fill the void, but underneath an emotional emptiness remains. No matter how much we try to gloss over that yearning with temporary fixes, it is still there, whispering the truth: that what we need isn’t another quick fix, but rather a rebirth – a whole life revolution.”

How it works

5 Studio Classes per Week

Go back to basics and whatever your level of experience, start gently and lay your foundation. Over the six weeks, as you build mindfully upon these foundations, you will grow beyond your current physical boundaries. Learn to explore and tap into your body’s true needs, responding to internal messages that invite strength or request softness during practice. Play with your edge, for this is where the magic happens! You can only discover true inner power and abundant energy when your mind and body work together to understand one another.

Guidelines & Tips

• 1 class per day, 5 days a week.
• You may attend any class on the schedule at either studio.
• 2 classes in any one day does not count as catch-ups for missed days, as this is all about consistency.
• Attend the Basics & Advanced Asana workshops. They will ensure you build your foundations and grow beyond your current physical limitations.
• Take 1 Yin class per week if you are feeling the need for restoration.

1 Home Practice per Week

This is an essential part of the revolutionary process. The home practice day is your opportunity to step up and become the teacher. Learn to feel your own subtle body’s energy in a way that isn’t possible in a group class. Begin the journey of designing classes suited to you at any given time.

Guidelines & Tips

• Use the practices outlined in the book, follow a CD or DVD, or let your creativity flow and design your own class.
• You don’t have to complete a full class of 60-90 minutes but build slowly and enjoy the freedom to explore.

1 Day of ‘active rest’

Make a commitment to TRY to include one complete day of rest and rejuvenation in your weekly schedule. Try to make a day where you neither work nor practice. Rather sleep in, get a massage or have an energetic body balance and enjoy just being!

Guidelines & Tips

• You control your work & play schedule so your days off and home practices can be placed back-to-back or spaced to fit your commitments.
• We have great contacts for all kind of body workers around the studio. Ask a teacher to recommend someone who can meet your specific needs.

Nourishing & Cleansing Diet

We don’t prescribe any particular diet but encourage you to become mindful of what you eat and of what nourishes your body. The types of food that you eat during the 40 days can support and sustain you physically and mentally or they can go against the flow of positive change and leave you devoid of energy. This is a psychological as well as a physical aspect of the Revolution and can have powerful effects on your perceived success of the program.

Guidelines & Tips

• Follow the principles laid out in the book, or visit a naturopath or nutritionist for the best advice on how to support your body over the 40 days.
• Attend the Yoga of Eating Workshop, which will cover food philosophy and the main nutritional elements outlined in Sally Fallon’s groundbreaking book Nourishing Traditions.

Three Day Fast (optional)

The option to fast comes in the fourth week of the Revolution. Fasting is an amazing way to give your digestive system a complete rest, while de-toxing the body. It has the potential to unleash untapped energy within and to help release holding patterns of the mind. There are many ways to fast and this process can be adjusted to suit your commitments during the week in question. Full fasting can be great if you have the time to rest up and appreciate the process, but for those with many commitments, a simplified diet that removes sugars, caffeine and junk food is also highly beneficial for body and mind.

Guidelines & Tips

• Plan this week carefully around work and social life. It’s a great time to be with yourself, meditate, practice yoga and perhaps write in your journal.
• Remember that fruits include avocados, tomatoes and coconuts. Make sure you are well stocked with ripe fruits that you will enjoy.
• It’s great to have a juicer for fruit and vegetable juices.
• Perhaps learn to make kichari (Indian lentil & rice dish) which has been used through the ages as a fasting and cleansing meal.
• Alternate eating fruit and lightly steamed fresh organic vegetables with a drizzle of olive oil. This isn’t full fasting but an effective way to cleanse without feeling hungry if you have a busy lifestyle.

Daily Meditations

Meditation is at the heart of all yoga. Developing a daily practice will become one of your life’s greatest tools for self-exploration. Stilling the mind gives you the opportunity to go deeper into yourself and will transform the way you practice yoga.

Guidelines & Tips

• Just start! Initially all it takes is 5 minutes morning and evening. Everyone can do it but it does take practice.
• Follow the guidelines in the book or simply rest the mind on your breath and feel the body – it really is that simple.
• When you are too tired or feel you can’t meditate on your own, use a CD. We highly recommend both the Meditations for the Heart for a seated meditation and Yoga Nidra for a lying down meditation, both of which are available at the studios.
• Come to the Practical Meditation workshop for some great techniques to get you started.

Personal Exploration – Journaling & Introspection

We suggest you keep your own journal during this experience as it can be very empowering to look through it at the end and see how you have transformed! There are questions at the end of each chapter in 40 Days to Personal Revolution that are designed to provoke introspection, to help you to delve into your mind, to identify old mental patterns and to create new ones. Your journal-keeping is for you only, and does not need to be shared.

Guidelines & Tips

• This isn’t compulsory but should be tried either with good old-fashioned pen and paper or by writing a blog.
