Jacqui is a loved Rozelle regular, who is a freelance graphic designer by day, aspiring yogi by night, and beautiful mum to her 4 year old son. She’s also a whiz with recipes and nutrition, as our 40 Day Revolutionaries are be lucky to know. This month we spent some time with Jacqui to be inspired by her yoga journey:
Why do you practice at BML? It feels like my second home. I took my very first yoga class at BML a couple years ago, and I have had a dedicated Power practice for about 6 months now. BML has such a supportive and nurturing environment, and I feel like my practice is constantly evolving due to the amazing teachers.
What do you take from your practice? I relish being with myself for 90 minutes, it’s a sweet pause from my responsibilities. I find that yoga challenges, yet also heals me emotionally, physically and spiritually. It makes me feel much more alive and connected to everyone and everything that is happening in my life. Plus, I’m totally addicted to the yoga afterglow.
You’ve recently taken part in the 40 Day Revolution – tell us about it! I signed up for the revolution with virtually no expectations of what effect is might have on me. However it has very much been a journey of self-awareness. The main thing that became apparent to me is that I thrive on intensity, now I’m in the process of trying to find the balance. The best part of the revolution has been the community and sharing experiences with other students. I loved the regular practice and I feel much more in tune with what my body needs. The most challenging aspect has been sitting in meditation – I couldn’t sit still at the start, now I feel much calmer with myself and am feeling the benefits of meditating. I feel like the 40 days isn’t really finishing as it has created so much momentum that I am keen to keep moving along the path.
